Wedding: Vowels — Burghart
Makinzie Jo Vowels and Eric Michael Burghart were married on May 30, 2015 at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Atchison. Abbot James Albers and Deacon Richard Boland, grandfather of the bride, officiated the ceremony. Music was provided by Simon Pick, organist, and Brett and Emily Wobker, cantors. The bride was escorted by her father in the double ring ceremony. The reception was held at Benedictine College Dining Hall.
The bride is the daughter of Mark and Kelly Vowels of Atchison. The groom is the son of Steve and Roberta Burghart of McPherson.
The maid of honor was Leah Peterson and bridesmaids were Mikala Schwery, Sarah Johnson, Morgan Nolte and Jordan Paolucci, all friends of the bride. The guestbook attendant was Laura Prohaska, friend of the bride.
The best man was Chad Nieman and groomsmen were Ben Gehring, Joe Reber, all friends of the groom, Paul Burghart, brother of the groom, and Ben Schwindt, friend of the groom. Ushers were Beau Vowels, brother of the bride, Matt Lazzo, friend of the groom, and Nathan Melia, cousin of the groom.
The flower girl was Reggan Johnson and the ring bearer was Bode Johnson, both friends of the bride.
The groom’s parents hosted the rehearsal dinner at Cedar Ridge Restaurant in Atchison.
Makinzie is a graduate of Maur Hill-Mount Academy and Creighton University. She is an admissions counselor at Bethany College. Eric is a graduate of McPherson High School and Washburn University. He is a physical education teacher in the McPherson school district.
After a honeymoon in Mexico, the couple will reside in McPherson.
